CHEM 152 Online Homework (read this first before starting first assignment)

Homework Problems on this website

This website contains online homework problems for each course topic you will study this semester . You can access all the homework problems for the semester using the menu at the top of the page or on the right sidebar.  These homework problems are designed to help you learn the course material and practice problem solving skills.  They allow unlimited attempts and are ungraded.  Your work is not saved and you do not need to submit it.

Even though they are not graded or submitted, I would recommend that you try the problems until you get then correct.  If you can’t figure them out, you can display the answer and then you should make sure you understand it.  This will enable you to do better on the graded supplemental homework that you will do next.  (see below).

Organization of problems in each topic

There are 11 course topics in CHEM 152 that have assignments:

  • CHEM 151 acid base review
  • Common Ion and Buffer Solutions
  • Acid-Base Titrations
  • Solubility Equilibria
  • Chemical Kinetics
  • Nuclear Chemistry
  • Oxidation-Reduction
  • Transition Metals and Coordination Chemistry
  • Thermodynamics
  • Electrochemistry
  • Molecular Orbitals

Each topic has a problem set that can be accessed from the menu at the top or right side of this page.

The assignment for each set first lists the learning objectives for the topic (these are from the course syllabus).  Below that there are links to the reading in the course textbook OpenStax Chemistry 2e that will help you do the homework problems, along with the problems themselves.

Supplemental graded homework questions on D2L

Additionally, there are supplemental graded homework questions available on D2L.  These supplemental questions will make up the 100 point homework grade for the semester  (11 assignments at 10 points each with the lowest being dropped). 13 points will be available for each assignment, with any points earned over 10 for each assignment being bonus points or extra credit.  The supplemental homework questions can be accessed on D2L by clicking the “assessments” tab in the top menu then clicking “quizzes”.  They will have due dates throughout the semester, with each due date available on the course schedule provided by your instructor.  These supplemental questions will be graded and you will be given two tries for each one (many are multiple choice).  They will be much easier to answer if you complete and understand the ungraded problems on the website first (and for many of them it is necessary to complete the problems on the website first).
